The Artist

My artwork is complex, and it usually needs to tell a story,” says Elko, Nevada, artist, Kristi Lyn Glass. “I love things that sparkle and glow with vibrant color.”

Glass was an active artist in St. Paul, Minnesota, before moving to Elko in 1996. Her works have appeared and sold in several gallery shows and art fairs. She was the 1997 President of the Elko County Art Club and is well known for her encouragement of fellow artists.

Her works often capture the awesome beauty of Nevada's scenery. They also frequently incorporate her love of the ocean and mountain horseback riding.

She works in a variety of media and often mixes them with great creative flair. She is currently exploring watercolor, pastels, stained glass, ultra thick embossing enamel, polymer clay, airbrush, and other media.

History

Kristi graduated from Macalester College in St. Paul, MN, with a B.A. in English and Journalism. Her career then then followed a steady course that utilized her skills as a creative writer and graphic designer. Here are some career highlights:

· Five years as assistant director of two national school press associations

· Five years supervising the judging of over 5,000 school yearbooks

· Edition layout editor for the nation’s largest regional horsemen’s advertiser

· Over six years as documentation manager for a software company

· Editor of a variety of newsletters

· Over four years as a contract technical writer for Fortune 500 and other companies

· Web page designer and administrator

· Over nine years as a representative for a school yearbook publisher

· Advertising and public relations manager for several businesses

· Author of two fiction manuscripts and dozens of technical manuals

· Eight years as publisher of an international book review magazine

· Over nine years as a grant writer and marketing and development specialist for a large nonprofit corporation

Kristi retired from her writing career in 2005 to devote more time to her artistic pursuits and other interests. She has been producing and selling a variety of artistic creations since 1993.
