At a craft store on a recent trip to Boise, Idaho, I saw a fabric quilt panel of a dramatic castle that had been stretched onto a 16” x 20” canvas frame. The unique thing about it was that sun-struck parts of the castle had been highlighted with gold glitter, which was unusually striking. The store didn’t have any of the fabric, but they told me where to find it online. I did so, and was able to buy the full panel, which has four different castles by the same artist, Dan Morris, each seemingly in a different season of the year.
I cut the four panels apart and stretched and stapled them onto 5/8-inch deep canvas frames. Then I put 1” shiny black art project tape around the frame side edges, to cover the staples and fabric edges.
Then I spent a couple of hours adding Tulip gold glitter dimensional fabric paint to highlight the castle’s sun-struck features on three of the panels.
On the fourth (winter) panel, I used Tulip snow-like dimensional glitter fabric paint to accent the snow on the scene.
Here’s a closer look at the winter castle’s foreground snow glitter.
I plan to display these, in their respective seasons, in my castle-themed guest bathroom.
It was fun and easy to do them, and I’m loving how they turned out! What do you think of them?
