My Photo Wins NNRDA Prize

Lamoille Canyon Rainbow

This picture of mine won First Runner Up.

My photo of a rainbow terminating in Lamoille Canyon in the Ruby Mountains won First Runner Up in the Northeastern Nevada Regional Development Authority’s Steering It Forward photo contest on March 25, 2013. The prize was a $100 American Express Gift Card donated by Coldwell Banker/Algerio Q-Team Realty of Elko, NV.

Entrants were required to submit photos or artwork that best describes what the ideal Northeastern Nevada would be like in 2030. They also had to submit a paragraph describing how their entry would relate to life then in Northeastern Nevada. The paragraph I submitted with my photo read:

Northeastern Nevada, where you can work, live, and play happily ever after. And you can bet there’s a pot of gold at the end of that rainbow, as well as Nevada’s hidden jewel, Lamoille Canyon.

All prize-winning entries were photographs except the winning entry, which was a computer-generated graphic depicting a radiant city with a mountain backdrop and a river running out of it with two figures in the foreground. It is shown in the link below. The tagline was “Northeast Nevada, Fields of Golden Dreams.” The grand prize was a gold splatter donated by Newmont Mining Corp.

The Elko Daily Free Press printed a color picture of the contest winners in its March 2, 2013, edition.

I was pleased to win this prize and outshine some terrific local photographers!
